*Japanese journalist Shiori Ito’s five-year long struggle, both as a reporter and as a victim of rape, sets an example to women everywhere. Her only weapon being a smart phone and her only power being the righteousness of her cause, Ito became the pioneer of #MeToo movement in Japan. At the time of Ito’s assault in 2015, the age of consent in Japan was 13, and her rapist was Noriyuki Yamaguchi, known as the closest media member to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his biographer; factors that made Ito’s struggle even more harder and riskier. Ito, who has also wrote a book titled Black Box, documents her experiences from the ages of 27 to 33 in this film that shook the Sundance Film Festival.
