Yıllar içinde toplumların köklü değişimler ve dezenformasyonlar yaşadığı yadsınamaz bir gerçektir. Bu değişime direnen topluluklardan biri olarak bilinen Tahtacılar ile ilgili ilk çalışmalardan biri Suha Arın’ın 1979 yılında çektiği Tahtacı Fatm’ filmidir. Söz konusu filme istinaden 1999 yılında bir röportajda Suha Arın, Tahtacılar ile iletişimlerinin uzun süre önce koptuğunu, günümüzdeki yaşamlarını merak ettiğini ve güncel durumlarını inceleyen bir belgesel yapmak istediğini dile getirmiştir. Ancak Arın, bu hayalini gerçekleştiremeden 2004’te hayatını kaybetti. Peki Türkiye’nin kültürel mirasını belgeleyerek bir ömür geçiren Suha Arın’a 20 yıl önce tanıştığı bu topluluğu merak ettiren his nasıl ortaya çıkmıştı? Fatma’dan Sonra 40 Yıl, Tahtacıları 40 yıl sonra aynı yerinde, Tahtacı Fatma filminde görev almış belgeselciler ile gözlemleyecek ve geçen bunca yılın ardından yaşadıkları değişimi gözler önüne serecektir.
It is undeniable that societies have experienced radical changes and disinformation over the years. One of the first studies on Tahtacıs known as one of the communities resisting this change is Suha Arın's film Fatma of the Forest in 1979. In an interview in 1999, Suha Arın stated that he lost contact with Tahtacıs, was curious about their current life, and wanted to make a documentary examining their life today. However, Arın died in 2004, and couldn't realize this dream. How did Suha Arın, who spent a lifetime documenting Turkey's cultural heritage, get curious about this community he met 20 years ago? The 40 Years After Fatma will observe the Tahtacıs, in the same place 40 years later, with the documentarians who took part in the Fatma of the Forest and will reveal the change they have experienced after all these years.
