English Version

Yapabilirsin” (You Can Do It!) is a documentary about courage and hope, dedicated to the power of women. It is about accepting what it is or taking a step to change it. It is about nine women who decided to take a step to change their lives and acted courageously with their hearts and inner strengths with contagious optimism. They are true examples of what is possible when you believe in yourself. “You Can Do It” emphasizes the fact that you can change your life in the way you choose to, rather than being imposed on it by the traditional role of a woman —Tuluhan says. “When you find that inner strength, you excel beyond your limits. Hope and courage are in you. Just do it!” Tuluhan Tekeloglu, started a journey with the women who took the step to change their lives and surroundings against all odds. “You Can Do It!” is her reward winning documentary.

TURHAN TEKELİOĞLU

Fransa’da doğdu. Ankara Üniversitesi İletişim Fakültesi Gazetecilik Bölümü’nü bitirdi. 1997 yılında BM Mülteciler Komiserliği’nde görev aldı. Gönüllü olarak Kenya Kakuma Mülteci Kampı’nda çalıştı. Gazeteciliğe Paris’teki Sipa Press’te başladı. 1994-2002 yılları arasında Hürriyet Gazetesi’nde görev aldı, 2001-2013 yılları arasında çeşitli TVlerde haber programları hazırladı ve sundu. 40’ında 40 Kadın (2011), 50’sinde Erkek (2012) belgesellerinin ardından gelen Yeni Hayat (2013) belgeseli halen organ bağışçıları kazandırmaya devam etmektedir. Türk basınını işsiz bırakılan gazeteciler üzerinden anlattığı Persona Non Grata “İstenmeyen Kişi” (2015) , ABD Arizona Üniversitesi’nin 2015 eğitim dönemi açılış filmi olarak gösterildi. Sanatçılara uygulanan sansürü anlattığı Üvey Evlat (2016), kadınların gücünden ülkeye umut yayan Yapabilirsin (2017) belgeselerini hazırladı. 40’ında 40 Kadın, 50’sinde Erkek, Ya Bizdensin Ya Da ve Üvey Evlat adlı kitapları bulunmaktadır.

She was born in France. Tekelioğlu graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Communication Department of Journalism. She worked at UNHCR in 1997. She did volunteer work in the Refugee Camp of Kenya Kakuma. Tekelioğlu started working as journalist at Sipa Press. She worked for the newspaper Hürriyet between the years 1994-2002 and between 2001-2013 she prepared and hosted news programs for various TV channels. The documentary New Life (Yeni Hayat) (2013) which followed 40’ında 40 Kadın (2011) and 50’sinde Erkek (2012), still encourages organ donation. Her documentary Persona Non Grata (2015), which depicts the Turkish press via the journalists who lost their jobs was screened at the opening ceremony of the 2015 education year of Arizona University at USA. After Üvey Evlat (2016) in which she tells about the censorship faced by the artists, Tekelioğlu prepared the documentary Yapabilirsin (2017) which spread hope to the country through women’s power. She is also the author of the books, 40’ında 40 Kadın, 50’sinde Erkek, Ya Bizdensin Ya Da and Üvey Evlat.
