Japon gazeteci Shiori Itô’nun hem haberci hem bir tecavüz kurbanı olarak beş yıllık mücadelesi, tüm kadınlara örnek olacak nitelikte. Tek silahı bir akıllı telefon ve tek güç kaynağı haklılığı olan Itô, Japonya’da #MeToo hareketinin öncüsü oldu. Kara Kutu adlı bir kitap da yazan Ito, 2024 Sundance Film Festivali’ni sarsan ve En İyi Uzun Metrajlı Belgesel Oscar’ına aday gösterilen bu filmde, yirmi yedi yaşından otuz üç yaşına kadar yaşadıklarının dökümünü yapıyor.
Japanese journalist Shiori Itô’s five-year long struggle, both as a reporter and as a victim of rape, sets an example to women everywhere. Her only weapon being a smartphone and her only power being the righteousness of her cause, Itô became the pioneer of the #MeToo movement in Japan. At the time of Itô’s assault in 2015, the age of consent in Japan was 13, and her rapist was Noriyuki Yamaguchi, known as the closest media member to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his biographer; factors that made Itô’s struggle even more harder and riskier. Itô, who also wrote a book titled Black Box, documents her experiences from the ages of 27 to 33 in this film that shook the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, and was nominated for the Best Documentary Feature Oscar.
