The Life of a Zucchini, directed by Claude Barras, is a film nominated for France's Best Foreign Language Film Oscar this year. Pumpkin may be an unusual nickname for a 9-year-old boy, but his unique story is actually incredibly universal. After the unexpected death of his mother, Kabakçık is left to an orphanage with other children of the same age group by Raymond, a helpful police officer. Although Pumpkin initially has a hard time finding a place in this strange and sometimes hostile environment, with Raymond's support and his newfound friends, he will gain trust over time, discover true love, and find a new family of his own.
