From The Foundation To The Independence - İstanbul Historical Turkish Music Ensemble
Art Director: Mehmet İhsan Özer
The Head of Mehter: Şükrü Alkan
Narrater: Enes Ergür
This is the musical narration that pushes the limits of its content, where the story begins when Osman Ghazi, the founder of Ottomans, started his reign upon receiving an aigrette and a drum. The journey he has iniated and consolidated by the War of Independence, will be in our story; but you will find much more in its depth.
The word Anatolia, which means the place where the sun (light) comes from in ancient Greek, became Anadolu, which expresses our Homeland in our beautiful Turkish.
In Anatolian’s Söğüt and Domaniç regions, which opened its doors to us on August 26, 1071, from the chest of a great person a sapling grew at the end of the 1200s. That sapling became a great plane tree and has been hosting many lands from the Danube to Yemen, from Algeria to the Caucasus in its shadow.
Some wanted to dry the plane tree. First, they cut its branches, then they tried to root it out, but they couldn't dry the plane tree, whose root is Anadolu, and we got rid of those who tried. We have preserved what we have established. In a musical language, this concert will explain all phases, from Foundation to Independence.
Selected works such as Sancak Anthem, Rumeli Folk Songs, Aziz Istanbul, Barbaros Anthem, Çanakkale Folk Song, Turkish March, and Yanık Ömer from our repertoire will be presented for your appreciation.
