Nişabur Mevlevi Ayin-i Şerifi - İstanbul Tarihi Türk Müziği Topluluğu

        Mevlevi Mukabelesi

        • Konser.

Meaning remembrance and reminder, dhikr is the main component of sects, Sufist schools, and it means rhythmically repeating Allah’s names silently or in a low voice. While there are types of dhikr which are performed individually, there are some collective types which are performed in groups. Differing according to sects, these dhikr ceremonies have differ in their rules and contain some bodily movements. Whereas some of these are performed sitting on the knees and slightly bending the body from one side to the other (kuûdi), the others are practiced by sitting down and then slightly rising on the knees as if to stand up; whereas a type sees people remain standing shoulder to shoulder or holding each other’s hands and then swinging the body ftrom one side to the other (kıyamî), another sees them circle around arm in arm or hand in hand (devrânî), and one last types is performed rotating individually (semâ). Semâ, one of the dhikrs of Mevleviyeh, refers to the rotating movement of a dervish whose mouth speaks only of Allah and whose heart is fully filled with him.
Every particle in the universe rotates. So does a classical Turkish saying implies. In this respect, it is possible to attribute the emergence of semâ to the first creation. This means this principal behaviour goes way before Hz. Mevlâna. It’s not something he invented but something he just applied. It was an ecstasy moment which he attended as his treasure of meanings was overthrowing – a drunkenness of the soul. It’s believed that it was Abu Bakr who first performed dhikr. But this is an individual dhikr condition. The semâh meeting in mevleviyeh, on the other hand, is dhikr rite that contains plenty of sufistic symbols, rousing holy feelings in those who watch or listen to it and having been quite influential in inviting masses to Allah’s way with its unique aesthetics and significant meaning – a rite that is performed not individually but collectively and a characteristic, organised dhikr ceremony thay has been systemised in detail.
