Songs And Türküs Of İstanbul - İstanbul State Turkish Music Research and Performance Ensemble and İstanbul State Turkish Folk Music Choir
Conductor: Uğur KAYA
İstanbul is the center of art, as it is in many other fields. İstanbul's music has become the city's language and never leaves our ears with its unique performance style and melodies. In some regions (Elazığ, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Adıyaman, Mardin, Konya, Silifke, Thrace, and certain parts of the Aegean), folk songs are also performed with classical instruments. Moreover, many classical art music pieces are in the form of türküs, folk songs. In this sense, Conductor Uğur Kaya and Artistic Director Şükrü Türkmen prepared the concert together, featuring folk songs. With the migration from Anatolia, not only has the population increased, but also İstanbul become the center of a shared culture. However, throughout the years, İstanbul has always held a particular place in music with its unique texture. In our concert, we will go back to the old days of İstanbul and share the feelings of Anatolian women, "İstanbul, are you an inn, or are you the one who swallows the brave who come?"
The concert has been prepared in collaboration with two esteemed institutions of our Ministry of Culture: İstanbul State Turkish Music Research and Performance Ensemble and İstanbul State Turkish Folk Music Choir.
