Hüsn-ü Aşk’a Dair İDOB
Beyhan Murphy’s “Hüsn-ü Aşk’a Dair” (lit. On Beauty and Love) is a modern dance-drama reproduction based on one of the masterpieces of Divan Literature, Hüsn-ü Aşk (lit. Love and Beauty), an extraordinary story that involves a fantastic and introspective adventure, by Sheikh Galib.
Constructed anew in the time’s apprehension as a contemporary poem by Kubilay Tunçer, Hüsn-ü Aşk’a Dair completed its world premiere at the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) for the classical ballet ensemble of the State Opera and Ballet. Later, the production was re-staged for the second time with a modernized version in 2013 for MDTistanbul. In 2022, the production was reviewed once more and adapted for a single act with a new cast to be performed once again at AKM for the appreciation of Istanbulite music-lovers.
The original score for the work is by Rahman Altın, while the specially designed costumes are by Ayşegül Alev. Composed by Sheikh Galib in the 18th century in the mesnevi form, Hüsn-ü Aşk is a tale bedight with the symbols for and concepts of “love” and beauty”; and it will take you on an unforgettable journey.
