        Amin, dokuz yıl önce eşi Aïsha’yı ve üç çocuğunu geride bırakarak çalışmak için Senegal’den Fransa’ya gelir. Bir gün Gabrielle ile karşılaşır ve aralarında bir ilişki başlar. Dokunaklı bir hümanizm ve iyi niyet taşıyan Amin, filme adını veren göçmen Amin gibi, çeşitli nedenlerden dolayı kendilerini ailelerinden ve sevdiklerinden uzakta bulan insanların içine düştükleri zor durumu anlatıyor.
