Synopsis
The story of painter Mihri, full of gaps and rumours, attracts the attention of director Berna Gençalp, who focuses on female characters. She sets out with the question "Who is Mihri?" to uncover the story of Mihri Rasim Müşfik Açba, which begins in Ottoman Istanbul at the end of the 19th century and extends to Rome, Paris and New York. Mihri, whose artistic work and life story have been unjustly obscured, lost and deformed, is revitalised through archival materials, interviews and animation sequences./edit
Berna Gençalp
Born in İzmir, lives and works in İstanbul. Berna Gençalp holds a BA degree in Film and Television from Eskişehir Anadolu University and an MA degree in Film and Television from İstanbul Bilgi University. It was her who coined up the name Canlandıranlar for the independent animation film festival that aims to promote animation art in Turkey. She has held various positions within Canlandıranlar since its start in 2008.
