Aşk, Ateş ve Anarşi Günleri: Türk Sinemateki ve Onat Kutlar
In 1961, writer Onat Kutlar went to Paris to study philosophy. After going to the French Cinémathèque, he discovers his passion for cinema and decides to establish a cinematheque in Istanbul. In 1965, the Turkish Sinematek was founded by Onat Kutlar and a group of intellectuals. The interest in the Sinematek exceeds all expectations, and art films from all over the world are screened there for the first time. The Sinematek not only shows films, but also becomes a center, where an intellectual film culture emerges and a new generation of filmmakers, critics, and cinephiles grows up.
