Alexander Payne
Yönetmen, yapımcı ve senarist Alexander Payne Omaha, Nebraska'da doğdu. Ebeveynleri Peggy (Constantine) ve George Payne bir Yunan restoranı işletiyordu. Babası Yunan ve Alman kökenlidir ve annesi Yunan kökenlidir; soyadı aslen Papadopoulos'tu. Üç erkek kardeşin en küçüğüdür.
Alexander, Stanford Üniversitesi'ne gitti ve burada İspanyolca ve Tarih okudu. Daha sonra UCLA Film Okulu'nda sinema eğitimi aldı. Üniversite tez filmi Sundance film festivalinde gösterildi ve bu da ona Vatandaş Ruth'u (1996) yazıp yönetmesi için Miramax tarafından destek verilmesini sağladı. Payne, senaryolardan oyuncu kadrosuna kadar filmleri üzerinde kontrol sahibi olmayı tercih ediyor.
