Ken Loach -
Babası elektrikçi olan Ken Loach, Oxford'da hukuk okudu. Üniversiteden sonra yönetmenlik öncesi şansını aktörlükte denedi. 1961 yılında Northampton Repertuar Tiyatrosu'nda yönetmen asistanı oldu. Ardından 1963'te BBC'ye geçerek TV yönetmenliğine başladı. Z Cars, Diary of a Young Man (Genç Bir Adamın Güncesi), Cathy Come Home (Cathy Eve Gel) gibi dizi ve TV filmlerine imza attı. 1969 yılında en önemli filmlerinden olan Kes (Kerkenez)'i çevirdi. 70'ler ve 80'ler boyunca, filmlerini dağıtma zorluğu, politik sansür ve ilgi yoksunluğu gibi sorunlarla karşılaştı. Thatcherizm'in İngiltere'de iktidarda olduğu dönemde konularını alt sınıflardan,yoksulların yaşamından alan sosyal içerikli filmler yapan Loach, madencilerin grevini anlatan A Question of Leadership isimli belgeseli ile Muhafazakar Parti'nin büyük tepkisini çekti.
