This "Hitchcockian courtroom movie", which won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival where it had its world premiere, is a psychological thriller that puts the dynamics of a marriage under the spotlight. Based on the idea that "one person's private life is someone else's hell", Anatomy of a Fall follows German writer Sandra, who lives an isolated life in a cabin in the French Alps with her husband Samuel and her visually impaired son. Samuel dies by falling from a height, but when the investigation does not determine whether the cause of death was suicide or an accident, Sandra is arrested on charges of murder. The court process where Samuel's death is questioned turns into a disturbing and unpleasant psychological journey that goes deeper into the couple's turbulent relationship. The script of the film was written by director Justine Triet and her husband Arthur Harari, who previously collaborated on Victoria and Sibyl.
