Joachim Trier, the acclaimed director of Norwegian cinema, is here this time with a woman's story that starts off light and lively like a Woody Allen comedy and moves towards a sad ending. Julie is an energetic young woman who can't decide which profession to choose and isn't sure what kind of man she would be happy with. Her belief in living free leads her to easily form relationships with the men she decides to share her life with. But Julie doesn't realize that old relationships are not all in the past, and that they can cast their shadows on the future. The movie, which can be seen as a contemporary variation of Mademoiselle Julie with reference to Strindberg's famous play, draws attention with its narrative that combines enthusiasm and seriousness.
