The Straight Story tells the story of Alvin, a 73-year-old man who, when he hears that his estranged brother is ill, decides to go to him, and since he can't drive, he sets off on an interesting journey on a lawn mower.

Alvin Straight is an ordinary 73-year-old man who is now suffering from various health problems. He has a bad heart, diabetes and has difficulty even walking. He lives in a small town with his daughter. One day, he learns that his brother Lyle, with whom he has been estranged for 10 years, has had a heart attack. In order to end this long resentment, he decides to travel 510 kilometers with a lawn mower because he cannot drive. Alvin meets different people on his way to reach his brother
