Bir kadastro memuru olan K, küçük bir köye gelir ve orada bir şato vardır. Bölgedeki yerel otoriteler, kendisinin içeri girmesine izin vermek istemezler. K, bu kişileri ikna etmeye çalışırken giderek daha duyarlı hale gelecek bir takım başka bürokratik engeller ortaya çıkmaya başlayacaktır. Bu işin üstesinden gelmek gerekmektedir.Filmin yönetmeni Avusturyalı Micheal Haneke’dir. Film, Kafka’nın absurd romanından uyarlanmıştır. Oyuncu kadrosunda Ulrich Mühe, Susanne Lothar, Frank Giering gibi isimler yer almaktadır.
