The Wealth

Mehmet Bey, a 75-year-old wealthy merchant living in Anatolia, owns a five-story apartment building and a candy store. When his condition worsens, he is discharged from the hospital and brought home. As Mr. Mehmet lies on his deathbed, his daughters and their husbands, Dilaver and Fazlı, begin to plan how to divide the inheritance that will pass to them. His son Kemal and Hasan, the confectionery shop’s employee of thirty years, are aware of what is happening. Each family member and relative visiting Mr. Mehmet has different expectations and interests. Meanwhile, his wife, Mrs. Müzeyyen, finds the will Mr. Mehmet had prepared among the belongings brought from the hospital. Caught between revealing and concealing the will, the decision Mrs. Müzeyyen makes will determine the outcome of the family’s reckoning following Mr. Mehmet’s death.
