Norwegian director Emilie Blichfeldt modernized the Grimm Brothers' fairy tale Cinderella and transformed it into a grim body horror film. The main character is Elvira, one of the stepsisters of Agnes (Cinderella in the original tale), who is in love with the Prince. Elvira is ready to do everything to compete with her beautiful sister and charm the Prince, who recently published a poetry book. As Elvira’s quest for beauty forces the limits of gore, the socio-economic state of the family and the political aspect of the ball give this fantasy film a realistic dimension.
