İzmir'in sembol yapılarından biri olan tarihi Havagazı Fabrikası, Büyükşehir Belediyesi tarafından gerçekleştirilen restorasyon çalışmalarıyla, kentin önemli kültür merkezlerinden biri haline getirildi.1862'de kurulan Havagazı Fabrikası, 1900'lü yıllarda şehre elektrik sağlamak amacıyla etkin bir şekilde kullanıldı. Cumhuriyet döneminde belediye yönetimine devredilen mekân, restorasyon çalışmalarının ardından 2008'de kültür merkezi olarak faaliyete geçti. Havagazı Fabrikası'nda kafeterya, idari bina, okuma salonu, sanat üniteleri satış binası, atölye binası bulunuyor. Tarihi Havagazı Fabrikası faaliyete geçtiği günden bugüne kadar birçok konser, sergi, söyleşi gibi etkinliklere ev sahipliği yapıyor. Merkez, konser düzeninde 5000 kişiyi ağırlayabiliyor.
