Biography
Orbey, İstanbul Belediye Konservatuarı Tiyatro Bölümünde eğitim görür. Devlet Tiyatroları ve Ankara Sanat Tiyatrosu'nda yönetmen, Ankara Devlet Konservatuvarında eğitimci ve Bölüm Başkanı olarak görev yaptı. Sinemada da yönetmen, senarist ve oyuncu olarak başarılı örnekler verdi. Devlet Tiyatroları Genel Müdürlüğü (1978), Kültür Bakanlığı Danışmanlığı yaptı (1979). Ankara Üniversitesi DTCF Tiyatro Bölümünde, Anadolu Üniversitesi Devlet Konservatuvarı Tiyatro Bölümünde eğitimci ve sahne ve genel sanat yönetmeni olarak çalıştı. Yılmaz Büyükerşen'in daveti üzerine Eskişehir Büyükşehir Belediyesi Şehir Tiyatrosunun kuruculuğunu üstlenmiştir. Çok sayıda yerli ve yabancı oyun sahneye koydu. Radyo tiyatrosu da yönetti. Ergin Orbey 18 Temmuz 2012 günü 75 yaşında ölmüştür.
