Biography10 Temmuz 1983 tarihinde İran'ın Tahran şehrinde doğmuştur. Babası Behzad Farahani, tiyatro yönetmeni ve oyuncusudur. Annesi ise Fahimeh Rahim Nia, tiyatro oyuncusu ve şarkıcıdır. Golshifteh, ailesinin sanatçı olması nedeniyle küçük yaşlardan itibaren oyunculuğa ilgi duymaya başlamıştır.
2000 yılında, 16 yaşındayken "The Pear Tree" adlı filminde ilk defa rol almıştır. Daha sonra da birçok filmde yer almıştır. En bilinen filmleri arasında "M for Mother", "About Elly" ve "Body of Lies" sayılabilir.
2012 yılında İran'dan ayrılarak Fransa'ya yerleşen Farahani, daha sonra Hollywood filmlerinde de yer almaya başlamıştır. "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales", "The Upside" , "Extraction" ve "Extraction II"gibi filmlerde rol almıştır.
Golshifteh Farahani aynı zamanda müzik de yapmaktadır. İran müziği, caz ve rock gibi farklı tarzlarda şarkılar söylemektedir.
