BiographyODTÜ Sosyoloji bölümü lisans ve yüksek lisans mezunudur. Daha sonra Ankara Üniversitesi'nde Güzel Sanatlar Eğitimi doktorası yapan Birkiye, 2013 yılında Sahne Sanatları doçentliği ünvanını kazandı.
