2073
2073 is a warning to the future with traces of the past: Neither fiction nor documentary, only reality.
ABOUT
2073
"It's not fiction. It's not a documentary. It's a warning." Inspired by Chris Marker's La Jetée, Asif Kapadia conceived 2073 as a warning from an apocalyptic future. Making its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, 2073 is made up of stark and unsettling real footage, real interviews and futuristic fictionalized scenes of global disasters and injustices. Exploring our recent past and current events, from 9/11 and the 2008 financial crisis to the rise of fascism, the dangers of pervasive surveillance, the excessive wealth and power of Silicon Valley tech companies, this stunning film imagines a future where the world is both on fire and underwater. 2073 is real science fiction.
