Alex, a quiet forty-something, has his ordinary life turned upside down when his new neighbors move in. Axel, the father of the new neighbors, is an exact copy of Alex... except for one thing: Alex is bald, Axel has hair. Alex becomes increasingly paranoid when he becomes obsessed with his more charismatic, smarter, more successful, and hairier twin. Oddly enough, no one but Alex notices the resemblance. Often funny and sometimes tense, Alter Ego plays with notions of symmetry, male success criteria and the obsession with perfection.
