Haroun is an old bachelor who has been living in Oran for several years, where he leads a secluded life as a retired civil servant. When he meets journalist Kamel, he decides to tell him an incredible story that dates back to 1942: Haroun is the brother of the Arab killed in one of the most famous novels of the 20th century - Albert Camus’ L’Étranger. Malek Bensmail's directorial debut is a unique story focused on a previously unnamed character from the cult novel. It provides a different perspective on the central event of a novel as well as an insight into the political and social conditions of Algeria at the time. The film premiered at the Rotterdam International Film Festival.
