        Hollywood, 1927... With his inaccessible charisma, George Valentin is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. Every movie he stars in is a huge success and Valentin has a beautiful wife, a sumptuous home and millions of adoring fans. However, Valentin's life was turned upside down with the arrival of sound in cinema. Unlike Valentin, whose career is on the decline with the sound movies, a beautiful young woman named Peppy Miller has just begun to shine as an actress. Valentin and Peppy's blossoming romance is overshadowed by the deep chasm between their careers.
