Directed by Asghar Farhadi, A Separation tells the story of Simin, who wants to move abroad so that her daughter can grow up in better conditions, and what happens when she files for divorce against her husband Nader, who refuses to do so in order to take care of her father who has Alzheimer's disease.

Winner of the 2011 Berlin Film Festival's Best Film, Best Actor and Best Actress awards, the film tells the story of a couple who are about to divorce but face a dilemma over the custody of their children. Simin wants to leave Iran with her husband Nader and daughter Termeh. Simin files for divorce after Nader refuses to leave her father, who has Alzheimer's disease, and goes to her parents' house when her request is rejected. Termeh decides to stay with her father. Nader hires a pregnant young woman to take care of his daughter and father, but this will cause more problems.
