“This Is Not Me” tells the story of gay people who marry a woman by hiding their sexual orientation due to society, family pressure and their own internal conflicts. Mustafa, Mehmet and Yusuf are three gay men from conservative families who migrated from small cities and towns to the metropolitan city of Istanbul. The film, which deals with the stuck worlds of the characters who are overwhelmed by constantly acting and lying, wavering between what they experience and what they dream of, also makes one feel the deep female victimization. Mehmet and Yusuf are heterosexual men and family men in their own conservative family circles. In their inner world, they are passionately in love with their male lovers and live their reality only in their parallel lives with them. Mustafa, the locomotive character of the film, is Mehmet's lover, with whom he lived together for 15 years and could not break up with her. Mustafa describes Mehmet as a "homophobic homosexual". In the film, we see Mustafa trying to leave this passionate but traumatic relationship behind. However, Mehmet has no intention of giving up on Mustafa.
