The Invite

A dinner hosted by an older couple turns into a tense showdown due to the unexpected remarks and psychological games initiated by a younger couple attending as guests.

The host couple, played by Olivia Wilde and Seth Rogen, invite a new couple—played by Edward Norton and Penelope Cruz—to dinner. What initially appears to be a polite and ordinary social gathering takes a turn when the guest couple makes unusual revelations about their relationship and presents an “invitation.” As the cracks in the hosts’ own relationship deepen due to the guests’ provocative behavior and their games with ambiguous rules, the tension between the characters escalates to a point where physical and psychological boundaries are called into question.
