Hazal, who lives in Berlin, is only 17 years old. Her biggest wish is to be given a chance in life. For her eighteenth birthday, she wants to get away from daily troubles and party with her friends. However, her whole world will be turned upside down by an event that ends in death. Hazal is forced to flee to Istanbul, a city and country she has never known or felt close to. Dirsek, adapted for the big screen by Berlin-born director Aslı Özarslan from the novel Ellbogen by Fatma Aydemir, whose work deals with the effects of migration, had its world premiere in the Generation K14plus section of the Berlin Film Festival in February.
