In 1950s London, the orderly life of renowned fashion designer Reynolds Woodcock is turned upside down by love when he meets Alma, his muse.
Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, *Phantom Thread*—which reunites him with Daniel Day-Lewis—is set in the enchanting postwar London of the 1950s. Renowned tailor Reynolds Woodcock (Daniel Day-Lewis) and his sister Cyril (Lesley Manville) are at the heart of British fashion, dressing the nation’s elite—from the royal family to movie stars—in the distinctive style of the Woodcock family. While women continue to pass through Woodcock’s life—a lifelong bachelor—as sources of inspiration and friendship, his path soon crosses that of Alma (Vicky Krieps), a young and strong-willed woman who will become both his muse and his lover. Woodcock’s once-controlled and meticulously planned life will be turned upside down by love.
