From Oscar-winning director Richard Linklater, this elegant black-and-white feature recreates the electric creative process behind the legendary Breathless, channeling the youthful energy of the French New Wave itself. It is the spring of 1959. Jean-Luc Godard, not yet thirty, takes the director's chair, declaring, "The best way to criticize a film is to make one." With the support of his Cahiers du cinéma colleagues, François Truffaut and Claude Chabrol, he transforms a low-budget gangster story into a cinematic revolution. Disputes with producer Georges de Beauregard, improvised scenes with amateur actor Jean-Paul Belmondo and American star Jean Seberg, and war photographer Raoul Coutard’s handheld camera... This chaotic process signals the dawn of a new era in cinema. New Wave is a love letter not only to Godard but to the very idea of freedom in filmmaking and the dizzying courage of creation.

Richard Linklater: (1960, ABD) Amerikan bağımsız sinemasının en önemli yönetmenlerinden. His notable films include “Slacker” (1990), his famous “Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight” trilogy, and the Oscar-winning “Boyhood” (2014), which was shot over 12 years. New Wave (2025) and Blue Moon (2025) are the director’s latest features.
