John Murdock wakes up one morning in a strange hotel room, where he doesn't know how he got there, and realizes that he is wanted as the murderer of brutal murders. Because he has lost his memory, he cannot even remember whether he committed the murders. He encounters strange creatures living underground. These creatures, known as The Strangers, have the power to stop time and change the physical structure of the world, and can directly control the human brain and direct events as they wish. These creatures must be destroyed somehow, and the only person who can do this is Murdock. The mysterious Dr. With the help of Schreber, Murdock goes one step further and begins to remember things from his childhood and his wife Emma. Thanks to these memories, he manages to get some clues that will help him with the murders he is accused of.
