Goat 501 is a poetic docu-drama that follows Cengiz, a lonely shepherd on the hillsides of the Eastern Black Sea in Turkey. The film begins with the birth of a goat and ends a year later when the same goat gives birth to its own kid - a timeless cycle that is completed in silence. However, this is not just the story of a goat, but of Cengiz. While the other two characters in the film make economic gains from the goats, Cengiz lives a life outside the concepts of money, society and time. He repeats each year in the same cycle, untouched by money, greed or social expectations. Over time, he becomes indistinguishable from animals-Cengiz is the 501st goat.
