Atonement

When 13-year-old Briony Tallis falsely accuses Robbie—the man her older sister Cecilia is in love with—of a crime he did not commit, it irrevocably changes the lives of all three of them.

Living in England in 1935 and aspiring to be a writer, Briony misinterprets the events she witnesses between Cecilia and Robbie. Her accusation that Robbie is the perpetrator of an assault that took place that same night leads to the young man’s arrest and Cecilia’s estrangement from her family. Years later, in the shadow of war, Briony confronts the consequences of her mistake and searches for a way to make amends for the lives she has ruined.
