The life story and artistic career of Borivoj Dovniković Bordo were shaped by historical shifts in epochal socio-political systems. These shifts, from the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, the Independent State of Croatia, socialist Yugoslavia, to the Republic of Croatia, are clearly discernible in the work of this world-renowned animator, whom film critics have called the Advocate of the Common Man.
Through his testimonies and reinterpretations of his works, the author’s life is brought into connection with his ingeniously lavish artistic achievements, comics, animated films and caricatures, with a special emphasis on the timeless animation etude about his notable piece Learning to Walk.
