Jacek, who leads a life completely detached from society, is a man who struggles to communicate with people. One day, he murders the driver of a taxi he's riding in and is caught and brought to trial.
Ostensibly, he committed the murder for no reason. There isn't a single piece of evidence that could be in his favor. Piotr, an idealistic lawyer who has just obtained his license, takes on Jacek's defense despite all these adverse circumstances. Will idealism or reality prevail? The question that weighs heavily on the mind is: "Is there any difference between a system that coldly orders the death penalty and ordinary murderers?"
