Based on Manuel Puig's famous novel, the film adaptation of the musical Kander & Ebb, which took Broadway by storm, features outstanding performances from the three leads: Jennifer Lopez in the title role, Diego Luna and Tonatiuh. Kiss of the Spider Woman tells the story of the unlikely friendship between political prisoner Valentin and Molina, a man convicted of moral turpitude who shares a cell with him. Molina tells Valentin the story of a glitzy Hollywood musical starring Ingrid Luna, the movie star he adores, and their small, dark cell comes alive. Dazzling audiences with Technicolor hues and spectacular dancing in these scenes, Kiss of the Spider Woman was adapted for the screen by Bill Condon, who wrote the screenplay for hit musicals such as The Greatest Showman and Chicago, and directed Dreamgirls. The film premiered at Sundance and was the closing film at the Locarno Film Festival.
