The film is about the tricks Hıdır Diri, who was elected mayor from a right-wing party in the town of Ovacık, where the majority of the people are left-wing, pulls to keep his seat after the left-wing parties failed to agree on a common candidate.

In the overwhelmingly leftist town of Ovacık, a mayoral candidate from a right-wing party wins the election and governs the town for five years after left-wing candidates and parties fail to reach a consensus and enter the elections with multiple candidates. Hıdır Diri, who wants to win the next election, mobilizes all his power to win the election with all kinds of tricks, including having his far-leftist niece Şilan imprisoned so that she would not be a rival.
