1200 years ago an orphan named Brendan meets Brother Aidan, keeper of an exquisite unfinished book of illuminations. Aidan gives Brendan a great task – to finish the Book of Kells. This takes the boy to a journey of creativity and imagination, where adventure, danger and action await him. While under constant threat of an invasion of Vikings and with the help of the mysterious girl Aisling, Brendan faces his deepest fears in order to fulfill his task. The Book of Kells is a master piece of European art and one of the most precious examples of Irish medieval culture and this animated story, a combination of fantasy and legend, tells the story of its creation.
