Directed by Makoto Shinkai, Your Name is Your Name tells the story of two young people who do not know each other and who live in different cities, and the events that develop as a result of their strange connection to each other.

Mitsuha, who lives in a region surrounded by mountains, is a high school girl who is not very happy with her life. Her father works as a governor and is involved in election campaigns. There is no one at home except her, her brother and her grandmother. Her life in the countryside overwhelms her and what she really wants is to be a part of the wonderful city life of Tokyo. On the other side is Taki. Taki is a young man about the same age as Mitsuha, living in Tokyo. His days are spent like any other young man in Tokyo, spending time with his friends and working. One day, however, he dreams that he is a girl living in a city surrounded by mountains. Mitsuha, on the contrary, sees himself as a boy living in Tokyo. These two strangers will find themselves strangely drawn to each other.
