Dwelling Among The Gods

THE SCALE OF JUSTICE

*Serbian; Turkish and English Subtitles

*Dwelling Among the Gods narrates the dilemma of an Afghan refugee family stranded in Serbia after fleeing from the Taliban regime in the hopes of reaching Europe. Fereshteh struggles with bureaucracy to be able to identify her drowned brother’s body and to bury him, mirroring Antigone’s defiance in burying her brother Polyneikes despite Kreon’s ban… This powerful portrayal of a woman ready to risk the right to asylum and the future of her children to obey her father’s wish and do the right thing according to her religion, deeply affects everyone around her, as well as the audience. Dwelling Among the Gods is one of the most unusual films ever made about immigrants who want to live in a place where they are treated humanely.
