Tasallut: İloğlu Vakaları

The film tells the story of Mustafa İloğlu, a scholar of Havas, who sets out to stop the ifrits haunting a remote village house with a magical page torn from a banned book.

On May 15, 1962, the Istanbul 1st Criminal Court of Peace banned the book *The Treasure of Secret Sciences*, which had been the subject of controversy due to allegations that it contained dark incantations and caused readers to lose their sanity. However, the book’s author, Mustafa İloğlu—Turkey’s foremost Havas scholar—continued to travel throughout Anatolia, documenting cases that official records could not explain. *Possession* delves into Case File No. 4, unearthed from this sealed archive. In a remote village home, a page torn from İloğlu’s banned book—a “Summoning of the Jinn”—invokes ancient ifrits into the hearth through the incantations written upon it. Upon entering the house to investigate the case, İloğlu realizes that the demon before him has been drawn into the home by the power of the very lines he himself wrote. Faced with this curse—a manifestation of his own work—the scholar must battle the demon that has emerged from his own book to save the household.
