Synopsis:

The first Dutch production to be selected for the Critics' Week at the Cannes Film Festival since 1998, Murder in the Reeds is a slow-paced psychological thriller from Sven Bresser. Murder in the Reeds was shot in the Weerribben-Wieden region, among the reeds whispering in the wind, creating the ideal atmosphere for a mysterious murder that shakes a traditional provincial society to its core. A grandfather, tenderly caring for his granddaughter, is deeply moved when he discovers the body of a little girl where he cuts reeds for a living. Through striking cinematography, the director successfully creates suspense by combining film noir elements with geographical factors that he uses as a supernatural malevolent force. Despite the murder investigation, Murder in the Reeds is more character-driven than plot-driven. Despite its lack of acting experience, Gerrit Knobbe's impressive performance gives the viewer goosebumps.

Reedland is filmed in Weerribben-Wieden in the Netherlands, among the reeds whispering in the wind, which create the ideal atmosphere for the setting of a murder mystery that shakes a traditional rural community. A grandfather who affectionately takes care of his granddaughter is deeply touched by the discovery of a little girl's corpse in the place he makes a living by cutting reeds. The director successfully creates suspense by using film noir elements, and the geographical factors like a supernatural evil force, through stunning cinematography. Despite the murder investigation Reedland is more character driven than plot driven and still gives goosebumps to the audience thanks to the impressive performance by Gerrit Knobbe who didn't have any acting experience.

Unnumbered tickets are sold at the theaters.

Viewers under the age of 18 will not be admitted to the theater. As the films shown at the festival are not classified, all films are suitable for an 18+ audience in accordance with the law. Our viewers may be asked to show their ID for age verification.

Recording with cameras, cameras, cell phones, etc. during the screening is prohibited by law. Recording devices will not be allowed in the theaters.

Latecomers will not be admitted to the theater, and tickets will not be refunded. We kindly request that you be in the theater 20 minutes before the start time of the screening.

There will be no intermission during the screenings.

Audience members who purchase student tickets will be asked to show valid student ID. Audience members who do not show valid student ID will be required to pay the difference in ticket price.

No food or beverages other than water are allowed in the auditoriums.

In the event of any technical issues with the subtitling system, the necessary measures will first be taken to resolve the problem. If the issue cannot be resolved quickly, the film will continue to be shown without subtitles.
